Orkney is absolutely jam-packed with history. We’re three days into our Orcadian adventure and we’ve visited the Neolithic, the Second World War, and most periods inbetween….
We’ve had a real variety of Scottish weather over the last four days, ranging from bright sunshine to torrential downpours. We’ve made good progress on our route North, and we’ve seen some interesting things along the way, including proper Scottish castles, the site of the last battle on British soil, some Pictish stones… oh, and some dolphins.
Chips, chips, chips….. We’ve spent much of the last four days salivating over the fish and chips awaiting us at the award-winning Bay Fish & Chips in Stonehaven.
You just knew that was going to happen, didn’t you? In retrospect, our last post was tempting fate somewhat when we wrote “The main thing is that SOK is now fully sorted from a Ford point of view”. As if……
Our planned one week turnaround back at home base turned into two and a half weeks whilst we ploughed through some of our motorhome warranty issues….
I think we’re going to have to call our 8 week trip to Ireland an initial recce. We’ve seen a lot, but there’s so much more that we’d like to see next time round.
