We’ve driven quite a distance in the last few days, crossing the Free State and the Northern Cape from Ladybrand near the border with Lesotho to Augrabies near the border with Namibia. Along the way, we’ve experienced big empty landscapes and scorchingly hot temperatures.
“Are you driving that movable house?” asked the South African border guard. I don’t think they see too many motorhomes at the Sani Pass……
This part of Zululand is jam packed with battlefields. We visited Isandlwana, Rorke’s Drift, and Blood River.
“Nissan Main Dealer? Didn’t he used to be the president of South Africa?” quipped Mark…. In the last few days we’ve visited Mapungubwe World Heritage Site, taken the NAVI-SOK for his 15,000 km service, and travelled a good distance south back into Kwazulu Natal.
The wildlife does definitely get much sparser as you get up into the northern section of Kruger. Having said that, the scenery is more attractive in the north and it’s much much quieter.
Well, what a change in the weather! From scorching hot and sunny to a deluge of rain and temperatures that left me reaching for my fleece….
