Lion Salt Works, Tatton Park & Lyme Park

Not too far to travel this weekend….

Friday’s first stop was the Lion Salt Works, which has finally opened after much delay.

On Saturday we headed off to Tatton Park for some more National Trust “savings”. The house was currently welcoming a modern art installation, with strange arty items in many of the rooms. I’m afraid it all just looked odd to me…

Then it was back to our CL at Davenham, near Northwich, and as Summer had finally arrived the barbecue had to come out….

On Sunday we did some more National Trust “saving” with a trip to Lyme Park. No photos allowed inside, unfortunately. (Sally – we walked past the back of the clock in an upstairs corridor. It’s by William Leigh of Newton, 1814…..)

Then on Monday we had a look at Arley Hall near Northwich before heading home. Amazing gardens… It’s apparently well known for its herbaceous borders, which have that effortless look about them…. until you read the signs and find out that they do take the whole lot out annually, dig it all over and divide / replace as necessary before replanting….

We now have long weekends pencilled in each month – only 3 to go before our Winter trip!
