We had a sunny start to our long weekend away, stopping off to visit Beeston Castle in Cheshire.

We then continued to Derbyshire – and oh, how it rained! We managed visits to Speedwell Cavern, the Derwent Valley (the photo is of the Derwent Dam, of Dambusters fame), and Eyam (the “plague village”; the photos are of the “plague cottages” where the first infections occurred and of the boundary stone, where villagers exchanged money for food and medicines).
