Chirk/Llangollen

Following on from our Namibian adventures, we came up with a new rule. There must be AT LEAST one long weekend away in Kampington every month…..

In March, we headed to Chirk, visiting Chirk Castle (built 1295-1310 and subsequently extended), the Chirk and Pontcysyllte Aqueducts (great engineering c1800), Dinas Bran (ruins of 13th century Welsh castle, pictured), Valle Crucis Abbey (Cistercian abbey founded 1201, pictured) and Erddig near Wrexham (early 18th century country house).
